Thread: How to Attach Paillettes to Sleeve Edges?

I am making a beledi dress and want to attach some larger paillettes to the sleeve and leg opening edges and maybe on a hip scarf. Has anyone done this and is anyone willing to share how they did it? I have 20mm paillettes and also bought some 3mm beads. I can crochet so if that's the way to do it, do you crochet right onto the edge or crochet the trim first and then attach? Or just stitch right to the edge? Photos would be helpful..c:: Thanks.

What I've done that I like is to put about 3 seed beads on a string, then the paillette, and then 3 more beads, then sew that end to the fabric and keep going in that manner. It will look like you have small loops of seed beads w/ a paillette suspended from the middle. I find that this method is more break proof and less time consuming than the other way.

A friend of mine used this method and she mentioned a trick she found very useful -- she cut a piece of cardboard to a certain width (like 1/2 inch, I'm not sure of the exact number) and used that to guide herself on how much of a gap to leave between insertions of the needle.
