Need a really "uplifting" bra
I've always been busty, but since having a child and breastfeeding for a long time, I'm having some difficulties.
My street bras are not providing enough vertical lift. I know, you probably think it's purely vanity- but rest assured that it's not. My center of gravity that governs my belly dance moves is really thrown off. When I raise "The Girls" by pushing them upward, it removes so much back tension and allows me to really lift my ribcage rather than having a slight slump.
Of course, this isn't a problem with a costume bra, because they're so stiff they push everything nearly up to my chin, but I can't find a street bra that does the same kind of thing.
I've tried minimizers, but they only compress the flesh inward, leaving the weight in the same lower spot. Push-up bras don't usually come in a 36DD size and usually have dental floss for straps.
I've lost a little weight, down to an average dress size, and my bra size stayed the same, so I don't think that losing weight will help. Surgery is not an option (no money, not to mention that reduction surgery sounds hideous).
I know there must be a Bhuzzer out there with a recommendation...I hope so, at least!

Im a DD and I love all Victorias Secret bras. They give support, smooth under clothes and very comfortable although they are underwire. Plus, I have 4 kids so I know what your talking about ;)

Yep. Also Wacoal. Both great! Watch for them on sale or if you have a Nordstrom Rack near by, keep an eye open there. You might have to deal with odd colours, but for a great fitting, long lasting bra, who cares! Or so says the 34F.

Yes, I agree on the wacoal bras, especially the minimizer ones. You might try BareNecessities or Nordstrom for them.

Re: Need a really "uplifting" bra
I recently shopped at a fancy lingerie shop and can't believe the difference in how great these bras make me look. They're pricey but worth it. I bought a Fantasie molded plunge to wear for stage. For everyday, I love Freya and Chantelle brands.

Go to either Intimacy or Nordstrom and get fitted. Then, get yourself a nice Fantasie, Freya, or Panache!
And the fitting is SO important. ESPECIALLY since you say you've lost weight.

I am an average size but am very busty too. I've had good luck going to Lane Bryant for their bras. Straps are solid and the cups are supportive. Plus they don't look too old-ladyish.

I know exactly what you mean by the center of gravity lifting with good support. I've just never heard it put into words before. It's a huge issue for me too.

Re: Need a really "uplifting" bra
I second le Mystere. In my experience they support/lift and mold without resorting to all of the padding at the bottom for "lift". (Those do lift but also add bulk at the bottom of the cup which can end up sitting lower on the ribcage which I find is counter-productive to the lifting idea, at least in my experience. Everyone's different, of course.)

Lane Bryant. You have to order them online because they don't carry them in a 36 band size in the stores. I buy the convertible styles and then cross the straps across the back. I'm a firm believer in having them up and forward rather than in my armpits.

Freya Deco for pushup without bulk, Panache Evie for strapless/convertible. These are made for busty girls and will hold you firm and put boobies up and forward so you look slimmer and shapelier. They work great om my 34gg/32h.

Re: Need a really "uplifting" bra
I am the same size after some substantial weight loss, so I hear ya. I actually just bought two of the Victoria's Secret BioFit bras today after re-measuring myself. They usually have sales and stuff so it's a good option if you can't pony up the cash for some of the better brands that others here have listed. (I know I've wanted to go to a specialty store to get fitted, but with the weight loss and being 4 different bra sizes in the past 2 years, I can't really justify it until I'm at my 'goal' weight or whatever!)
