Halter pattern?
Im looking for a good patern to modify into an even better pattern to make halter bras for performing! I really like the ones Ozma makes, but she said in a post somewhere that she made that pattern!
Any suggestions of a good pattern to modify for dance?Last edited by Sithraviel; 10-12-2010 at 03:46 AM. Reason: spelling!

Re: Halter pattern?
Can you link to one of Ozma's that you admire? It would help to get an idea of what you're looking for.

How close is KwikSew 3238 to what you want? http://kwiksew.com/Catalog/PDF/3238.pdf

Re: Halter pattern?
Ozma's is not made of stretch fabric. But I suppose if she started with a larger size of the the 3238 and tweaked it...

Re: Halter pattern?
...Or make the new costume out of stretch fabric. I'm just not finding a pattern with the desired profile. There are lots of patterns for halter tops/dresses (which could be cropped), but they usually have gathers for fullness at the bottoms of the cups, as opposed to being darted flat, and that's regardless of whether they are designed for knits or wovens. There are some evening gown patterns for wovens that use other darting schemes (e.g., princess seams), though.

Re: Halter pattern?
Well, I think that pattern is a great hint and I intend to try it with non-stretch fabrics, just to see.

Re: Halter pattern?
Hmm, Ozma's design seems pretty unique. It looks like each cup is made with two pieces of fabric with a seam down the middle to create structure and match that stripe pattern into that "V."
If it were me, I'd ask Ozma if she would be willing to make a copy of her pattern to sell. Then you'd just have to tweak it for fit. You never know unless you ask! :)
