Thread: cutting a wired hem?

I have a 2 layer fishing line wired hem skirt. It has no slit and i want to open one up. Would gluing fix the wire in place before i cut the seam open?

It depends on the type of fishing line and the type of glue. As a general statement, plastics don't take well to most glues, but there are craft glues that you could use to fuse fishing line to fabric. (Probably something like E6000 would work.) I think I would just cut the hem and pull a little of the line ahead so I could knot it on either side. If you keep the knots tight and close to the ends, you should be able to distribute the amount you lose in the process of cutting along the length of the hem without being too noticeable.
