Talk to me about L Rose

I'm in the process of getting a great set from L Rose. I'm looking at the website and the Crushed velvet is really shiny, almost gaudy. Is it just the photos or is this just the type of fabric. Does any one have a Crushed velvet from them? How do you like it?

What color are your getting? She can send you swatches of the fabric. Just ask her.

I had the skirt in the luxury velvet forest green and it was nice - don't know about the crushed velvet but I think it would be really pretty. When I order the trumpet skirts I always have to have her add extra fabric so the gore points reach my knees, usually their end point is below my knee and it just doesn't look good. - IMO. Sorry, I know you are probably wanting pictures but I don't have any. hopefully someone will chime in with pictures for you.

I like it, but I tend to like the non-crushed velvets they have even more...they tend to look a little richer.

Two photos of me in the dark green crushed...I'd say the second shot is more of how it looks live.

I agree with this. The luxury velvet is a higher quality fabric. When you hold a sample of the crushed velvet and luxury velvet up to the light you can see that the crushed is a thinner fabric. Since they are both the same price I tend to go for luxury (or twilight) if they have the same color in both fabrics. However, if you prefer the look of the crushed definitely go for it. It does not look gaudy, it looks textured.

Here's a performance pic of me from a few years ago wearing a forest green crushed velvet skirt & gauntlets from L. Rose

The crushed velvet is thinner than the luxury velvet, and thus is a little less forgiving. One of the reasons I got rid of mine was because it actually accentuated how lumpy my butt and thighs were getting, whereas the luxury velvet held everything in, like spanx.

I don't like crushed velvet at all - not Lora's crushed velvet in particular (never seen it), but just all crushed velvet. It's always thinner than "real" velvet and yes, it does look shiny to me. I have a forest green LRose set in the regular luxury vevet and it's gorgeous.

If you like the look of the crushed velvet texture and style but want more of the luxury velvet thickness and matt quality, I suggest going for the tie-dye colours. They have a very slight crushing effect, but are still the thick, lush, non-reflective luzury velvet quality. I have the cinnamon and blue-aqua tie-dyes and love them. ..g.:

Thanks Ladies this is exactly what I needed. Ozma those pictures are just perfect I am actually trying to to a forest trumpet with a green bedlah the problem is they dont have the right green in the luxury only the crushed (waiting on samples to confirm) So I was a bit worried how the crushed might look, but you ladies are rocking it. It makes me feel much better about going with the crushed if I need to. <3 !

In low light situations, the texture of the crushed velvet tends to pick up more light and be more visible. I use both the crushed velvet and regular stretch velvet in my costumes depending on the look I want and have been happy with both.

I would always advise getting a swatch when dealing with crushed velvet. I got jazz pants in 2 colors that sounded conservative but weren't. Had I seen swatches, I would have ordered something else. But I really love L. Rose stuff, and my students think the electric blue (which I think they called "pewter") and chartreuse ("forest green," I believe) pants are fun.

Keep in mind that a lot of the high end designer velvet costumes are actually crushed velvet. It is lighter weight, but is also a little cooler to wear. If your bedlah is really blinged out then I would go with the luxury velvet as it would probably make a better "canvas" for the bedlah.

I prefer the luxury velvet, too. I have the mulberry crushed, though, and it is sumptuous.

They give very tasteful and good advice, just ask.

I think that's the same reason I have one in crushed velvet. You may also want to look into the green metalskin, it's the fabric I am usually wearing with this now.

I know a few people who hate crushed velvet with a pasion and have been surprised to find they didn't hate it as much in trumpet skirt form.

I have a crushed velvet half-top from them, and it is a bit shinier than the plain luxury velvet. I like it, though. Here's me in the top. It's the Navy Blue color. I got it to match the circle skirt I had for karsilama.
