Exclamation Please help! Leaky bra :-(

So I accidentally punctured what I guess is some oil filled padding in a bra I'm decorating (I had no idea it was padded that way) ..cr.: has anyone ever done this? What did you do about it? I'm thinking about possibly trying to drain it since I don't think duct tape will work.

    Thanks in advance.

Exactly. Can you remove the lining and take the pads out? That stuff they put in those things can stain fabrics.

If you can take the pads out, you should be able to clean the bra. I had gel pads that I had pinned in place (stupid me not realizing that they were gel pads) and I punctured them. They didn't leak into that bra, but then I put them into another one (a Bella) and as I was wearing the bra (around my house, I was checking the fit), I felt this goo on my abdomen- the gel had leaked out, soaked the bra, and had soaked me, as well. After freaking out and saying a wide variety of terribly inappropriate words, I decided to clean the bra.

Since I had never washed a costume bra before, I tested the headband first- that was the costume piece that I was most willing to sacrifice. So I filled a tub with water and Woolite. I let it soak for a while, and then scrubbed it gently, rinsed, and wrapped it in a towel to dry. After the headband came through the washing just fine, I did the same thing to the bra. Every single bit of the gel came out- there was no sign of it anywhere. No staining, no residue- it was perfect!

    Good luck!

    Thanks y'all!

I ended up carefully seam ripping through a layer of foam until I reached a clear plastic fluid filled pouch. I inverted the cup over the kitchen sink and carefully cut open the pouch and let the fluid drain into the sink. It was a clear fluid that was the consistency of mineral oil. When it was drained, I cut as much of the plastic pouch off as possible and wiped it clean with a couple of paper towels. Before I line the bra, I'll put in some scrap cotton where the pouch was and stitch the foam closed. Then for extra protection, I'll put another layer of cotton over the foam before I put the liner in. Lucky for me, I'm working on a black bra covered with black assuit, so it's all going to work out. Whew! crisis averted!..l;,

i did that. luckily it was while adding buckram and not while adding the good fabric, since it would have been nearly impossible for me to get more of the fabric!
i had to wash it with dish soap to get the gell/oil/whatever out, then i cut the pad, pulled out the gel pouch and traced felt replacements out of them before throwing them out.
i used 2 layers of felt the size of the full pouch (traced around the outside of it) and then 2 more layers of a smaller circle, maybe the size of a Canadian $2-you want them the size of the thickest part of the pad but since it's a gentle slope you have to fudge it a bit, and made a sort of dumpling wit the smaller pieces stacked inside and the larger pieces outside

that ^ is a bad "drawing"(the .... are spaces so that it keeps it's shape, when i post it deletes the spaces) but maybe it helps. anyway it makes a perfect replacement, and it doesn't leak. ..g.:

oooh I have done this so many times! Emptying it over the sink is the way to go. Make sure you get every bit of the gel out. Then hand wash the bra. Let it dry and you'll be good to go.
