    Moving tassels on a costume!

    Some sewing-advice ladies!

I have this costume with a lot of hanging tassels on the bra and I would like to move some of them to the belt and so I need advice on the best way how to do this without all the small pearls falling apart!

Also wonder how its possible to shorten bra straps with all the pearls and stuff on them.

Anyone who might know how to do these things? Thanks alot! :u

Tassels usually have a central attachment point, and the secret to moving them is to find that point and determine how it is attached to the base. Beyond that, it's hard to say without more info. Can you post pictures, details about the construction, or the style ID and designer's name (in case someone has already worked on a similar costume)?

Cut at base..restring...sew on where desired.

If you wiggle the base sequin up off the fabric, how many threads do you see going into the fabric--two or four? Can you see a knot on the other side?

Since those are only two-strand tassels, they may have been sewn directly to the costume, at which point, you're probably looking at remaking them to move them. In that case, the trick is to restring the beads before or as you pull the old threading out. Depending on how much room you have in the bead holes, you could either do that with new beading thread, or with two temporary lengths of thin beading wire (just to hold the beads in line, and then string off the wire back onto thread).
