    Etiquette for Trying on Costumes

    Hi everyone,
For the first time in all my years of dancing, I finally tried on some costumes at a local show. Looking back on it, I wonder if my etiquette was off mark. ..cr.:

Ladies, what is proper etiquette for trying on costumes?

Let the vendor know you're trying it on. This can be in the form of a question, if you're not sure whether the vendor's OK with it.

Ask the vendor if you have any questions.

Don't stretch the costume or step on it.

You don't get to parade around in the costume for 20 minutes, showing your friends. Just try it on - if you are not going to buy it, get it back to the vendor stat so she can show it to someone who might buy it.

Only try on costumes when you are smelling sweet.

Don't wear bright red lipstick while trying on costumes.

    Wear underwear.

Leave a credit card/driver's license/other deposit-type object with vendor so he/she knows you are earnest.

Be gentle. I've seen lots of other dancers rip out fringe and things when trying on costumes. I know that they didn't maliciously do this, but you just need to take extra care when pulling skirts on and off... it isn't your costume yet, so treat it with even more care than you would your own treasured pieces.
