Undergarment question for Tempest Owners
I finally got a Tempest (yay!) after years of lusting over them and I am wearing it in a show this weekend. I was planning to wear an underskirt under it with the elastic of the skirt under the middle waist strap and the skirt bunched together in the front under the medallion and in the back so it doesn't show through the cutouts and I was going to wear underwear pushed down below the second cutout in the skirt. Now I'm thinking it might be easier to buy boyshorts and make cutouts that will fall in the same place as the belt cutouts and to sew in an opaque underskirt to the bottom of the belt. Basically, I'm just wondering- what do other dancers do? It seems like it may be too see-through under stage lights so I want to wear an underskirt and there is no way I would dance without underwear! So its just a matter of what style of underwear and how to put on the underskirt. Sorry for the ramble...WWBD?

Re: Undergarment question for Tempest Owners
I just got a gorgeous Dahab version of Tempest and would love to hear some solutions as well. None of my usual dance knickers work, but you may be right about building your own shorts and aligning the cutouts.

Re: Undergarment question for Tempest Owners
When I'm in a cold place, I will wear harem pants under my tempest with the top of the harems pinned under the lowest cutouts so the pants don't ride up and show.
Otherwise, I wear boyshorts, pull them down a bit in the back (my old boyshorts were high and I had to roll them as well), and pin the tops of those in about 3 places to the inside of the belt so that they don't ride up and show either. It looks good, nothing shows, and feels comfortable.http://www.etsy.com/shop/LesediDancer Enter coupon code "BHUZLOVE" at checkout and get a 15% discount.

I owned one a while back.

The chiffon of the skirt was quite opaque so I didn't feel the need of an underskirt. But I have to admit I never wore it under stagelight.
I closed the split below the center medallion just so that I could still get into the skirt as I feared the split may open up when spinning and I might flash someone...
I used string tangas with it and attatched them with snap fasteners to the belt so they couldn't move around and peek out the cutouts.

Re: Undergarment question for Tempest Owners
I have this one from Dahab

I just push down the straps (gotta be thin ones though) of my underwear below the first cutuot, or pin it directly underneath.
and here you can see that i've sewn two layers of chiffon skirts underneath for more swish when I spin and more coverage. One is in orange, the bottom one is in turquoise:
