Thread: Can I alter this to make this work- Dahlal Fantasia Hanan

Hi, I am considering purchasing Dahlal Fantasia Hanan bra/belt set HA10-64BB.
It is available in 1 size with no costume order.
The size available is Bra: C, ribcage: 37", Upper hip: 40.5, lower hip: 42
Now my measurements are:
Bra:C-D, ribcage 34", Upper hip 31", lower hip: 36"
I am not sure if I can modify this (can do basic sewing, nothing to fancy here) to make it work? Any suggestions? Should I go with this or look for someone who can make costume set? ..c:: Thank you.

You might have some cleavage but if you are okay with that, the bra might work.

The belt, however is going to have almost 10 inches of overlap! If it is in two pieces you might make it work but if it is all one piece, probably not. Even in the best case you will have a couple thickness of belt over each hip if you overlap the front and back portions of the belt.

It is a very pretty costume but maybe you should look elsewhere for one that is closer to your measurements. There are lots of beauties on our Swap Pages on a regular basis.

Maybe other dancers will check in with suggestions, don't take my input as the final word, I'm definitely not an expert seamstress. You could try PMing Anala, she does amazing things with costume alterations.

Hi...I have a 32.5" upper hip and briefly owned a hanan bra and belt. To be honest...they are not meant for petite people. I had so much overlap that the back part of the belt was too wide for the front part to cover and look like a smooth transition. Plus, the back part of the belt was disproportionately to big looking for my rear. It has been such a complaint of mine that Hanan does not make her belts in smaller sizes. The smallest I have seen is 40".

The 3" of overlap on the top might not seem that bad, but 10" on the belt will be very tough to alter. (The 10" overlap is 1/3 of you hip measurement!) I would hold off and get something in your own size.

Is the belt a one piece or two piece? I took out about 6" out of a one piece belt, making it into a two piece. You have to look closley at the pattern, it works.
