Re: how to apply glitter?
You mean those pots of loose glitter, right? I've tried applying them as an accent over eyeshadow, but since most of the shadows that I've been using lately are pretty dry, the glitter doesn't hold onto my eyelid at all. Then it occurred to me that I should probably try some eyeshadow primer, which up to now is something that I haven't used. You might try that, or you could also try applying something moist such as a dab of moisturizer to the eyelid before applying the glitter. I don't think I would recommend wetting the brush, but someone else with more experience using these might have better insight.

Re: how to apply glitter?
I think it would depend on who makes them as the brand/company may have a recommendation for what to use. If you have EyeKandy, then the best thing to use is the liquid sugar 'cause that will keep it on for hours and not have to worry about the glitter flaking and falling off.

Re: how to apply glitter?
Makeup4Dancers (based UK) sell a primer/sealer which works well, and its a bit easier to get it off than eyelash glue. It works with all eyeshadows, not just their own.

Re: how to apply glitter?
Most glitters are not meant to be worn around the eyes unless they are labeled for that use. Alot of them are made from shards of metal foil that can scratch or lacerate your eyeball. This includes most of the M.A.C. glitters.
I will second Eye Kandy Glitter. It is safe to use around the eyes and comes with its own adhesive solution that is also safe for the eyes, stays in place, and washes off easily.

Re: how to apply glitter?
i've used eyeshadow base to hold glitter on.
and lip balm works too :D
however those work well when you're puting on pretty much Only glitter. how do you do it when you have your eyes done up nicely, and want to bling it up by adding a touch of glitter? are there any 'secrets' to make this work without messing up your nice make-up, but still make the glitter hold well?

Re: how to apply glitter?
I have found the holy grail of potions when it comes to applying glitter on your lids:
http://www.fyrinnae.com/index.php?_a...&productId=412
It's not watery like most mixing mediums are nor is it super sticky eyelash glue or lipgloss (two things most people seem to use for glitter application) so it's perfect for adding glitter over your shadow. What I do is take a teeny tiny bit on my brush, a Q-tip, or my finger and pat it on over my eyeshadow. Let it dry for a few seconds, then pat your glitter on top. I promise you your glitter will stay on until you remove it.
Works great for shimmery, glittery eyeshadows too...you'll never want to use another primer again...unless it's for mattes. Pixie epoxy doesn't do too well with mattes.
More about the pixie epoxy: http://phyrra.net/2010/05/fyrinnae-p...l-product.html

Re: how to apply glitter?
i would never put eyelash glue on my lids for glitter, it's bad enough for the lashes . yuck.
i second the liquid sugar from eye kandy. although during some really allergic times (mine go up and down) even that itches. then i just dont use it.
the chapstick only works for me when i do the full eyelid. if i' want precision it's with a small paint brush and the liquid sugar.

Re: how to apply glitter?
I've used eyelash glue before to apply glitter to the eyes. It doesn't irritate my lids, but it does burn if it gets in your eye---ouch! Not recommended.
Instead I prefer to "prime" my eyelid either with actual eyeshadow base (I like any of the options from Urban Decay or NYX) or with a cream eyeshadow pencil. Using a cream pencil first intensifies the color of the glitter if you choose one that coordinates.

Re: how to apply glitter?
I agree. Eyelash adhesive contains latex. I've read that about 10% of people are allergic to latex. Also it is a sensitizer, which means you can develop an allergy following exposure.
I think the only reason it doesn't cause more problems than it does is because, when used as intended, it only contacts a very small area.
