fixing a shamadan
Does anybody have any advice on fixing a wiggly shamadan?

YES! Put it together with nail glue. It no longer disassembles, but it's rock solid.
I got this tip, and a whole bunch more, from Candi's website.

Re: fixing a shamadan
yep. I took mine apart completely and bought all new screws at home depot. I then screwed it back together adjusting the arms and bending as needed. Then I glued all the joints like crazy with E6000. Then I used smaller emergency candles and set them into the holders with the ends wrapped in foil so they wouldn't wiggle and I sealed them all in with wax. Pain in the butt but it totally worked!
I also custom fitted the headpiece by gluing small squares of upholstery foam a little bit at a time in order to get just the right fit.

Re: fixing a shamadan
I gave it to my husband and let him have at it.
Unfortunately, he glued my battery operated candle bases in, and I don't want to fight it,so I only use fake candles now.
I use bicycle helmet pads inside the headpiece.

Re: fixing a shamadan
Dr. Scholl's "Mole-Foam" is a VERY good headpiece liner. Pads, absorbs sweat, and wears like iron; yet is easily replaced when need be.
As other say in this thread, a careful dis-assembly and even more careful re-assembly with some kind of thread locker (TiteBond or similar) will get it as good as it can be...

Re: fixing a shamadan
My husband went to town on my shamadan with his soldering kit. The arms are permanently attached now but I can still break the main centre piece down. We had to reattach the head piece crossbands to make the whole thing fit my smaller head. Plus for padding I used pieces of pipe foam insulation cut in half. Very sturdy!
