Backbend and your boobs fall out the top of your bra???

I'm working on backbending pretty far for an upcoming performance, and the horrifying thought of my boobs flopping out of the top that bra crossed my mind. Is that even possible??? I fight with these !@#% things all the time now (the boobs, not the bras; or maybe it is the bras....), it'd be just like them to do something like that to me!

Have you tried that double stick tape?

I found that if a bra doesn't fit correctly that the scenario you're describing could certainly happen! If your bra is too large and gaps at the top or if there isn't enough coverage things could shift out of place. I read in an old thread that if you've taken all measures to avoid it and are still concerned, using good concealer on the nips will help camoflauge malfunctions. One of my costumes has a demi-cup bra and I do that 'just in case.'

    Thanks, I'll consider that.

I said I fight with my boobs all the time: I didn't know for years that I was wearing the wrong size bra, so ill-fitting bras, time, and gravity have conspired so that I'm not as "perky" as I very much wish. I am about 32" around my rib cage, but my cup size is more like a D or DD. Recently when I realized I was wearing the wrong size bras, I've been on the hunt for something that does fit, and everything around here that fits cup-wise is far too big in the band. I let a Victoria's Secret person talk me into buying a 34DD awhile ago, but then after I got home I realized even that cup was not large enough (they are horribly undersized anyway).

It finally dawned on me recently that I can buy a bigger band size to get the cup I need, and then sew the band smaller. Wish I'd known all this 20 years ago.

I have a similar issue. I always use double stick tape for performances, to avoid just the scenario you described. When the girls are this big, even a shimmy that gets a little out of control could make them come out!
I go to Lane Bryant for my bras. They are experts at the bigger chested gals!

If your breasts fall out of your bra in a backbend it's too big for you. Pack those puppies in.

Yep. I'm a 34G or something right now- still breastfeeding, so it fluctuates a lot. As much coverage as I get to even look halfway covered, there is no way the entire boob is coming out. may bulge a little funny when I am back up, but not gonna pop out. Also a fan of toupe tape and sock glue (the stuff that keeps your soccer socks up without garters)

Honestly, the kind of backbends I usually see in BD are not the gymnastic type that would invert your torso completely, so I'm not even sure how much of an issue this is. I am careful of my angle during backbends, but I don't think they're ever that inverted. I'll have to go find a video now- this has never even occurred to me.

I saw this happen to a dancer in performance once. It was because the bra was too big for her, I believe. As was said up-thread, pack 'em in. And practice in costume. If the top of the cup gaps away from the top of the breast, you may have a problem during a backbend.

Congratulations on being able to do a deep backbend! You are wise to ask the question here. Backbends are very dramatic and beautiful when done well, but you don't want to be worried about over-exposure during your big moment.

    Hi!

I do very deep backbends plus an additional turkish drop which gives maximum force to my girls to the wrong direction... g and what I can say is: Practice in your costume and make sure, the bra is not too big. If your girls tend to flop out, I would suggest to use double-sided tape, as well!

    Good luck with your performance,

    Sahira.

BTW: If you stretch out your arms to both sides instead of holding them up, the bra sits better around your boobs, too - or you could hold one of your hands over your bra as a cheeky little part of your performance while doing the backbend.

I completely relate to this and wish I'd known this 20 years ago too! Fortunately, I'm so stiff I don't think any backbend I did would warrant worrying about boob loss through the top.

Actually, have you tried one? I started wearing halters (I am now an E cup) recently and I ain't NEVER GOING BACK. They're not as comfortable, they do put a lot of stress on the back of my neck, but the shape is so flattering and the cleavage produced more flashy, yet contained. Crossover back is probably the ultimate option but I have to be able to put on a bra by myself, not having a dresser.

"They" say big boobs can't wear halters. "They" lie.

Halters work for me, but I have a seamstress add two straps from the neck to the back of the chest band to relieve the pressure on my neck (the way Noussas are made). It's brilliant.

Seems to me popping out during a backbend would mean a bra that's either way too big or way too small. The straps would also have to be VERY wideset.

No, seriously- I need to know where you're getting your halters! The ones I have tried have all been miserable failures! patterns, brands, tips for adjusting- maybe I just need to go start a new thread!

Here's a Noussa example -- click on the link in the thread for pics of the bra on a body.

My seamstress added these kinds of straps to my Great Loop and covered them in gold sequins for me, the costume was unbearable before and quite comfy now.

I make my own bras, which does make it easier... BUT, the crossover is actually not difficult if you detach the strap from the cup and add trouser hooks. Effectively, my bras hook in the back and at each cup. Easy-peasy to dress myself. (I'm a DDD/E/F)
