Oriental Haute Couture
Hi, everyone!
This is maybe a spin-off thread from another one I started (so I'll post this one in this forum again):
http://www.bhuz.com/showthread.php?5...d=1#post801341
I was thinking of oriental designers who influenced western fashion. Turkish designer Rifat Ozbek introduced a new concept of sophistication and style in the late 80's. But many others started not long ago and are already becoming famous in the West.
The costumes from these videos are amazing!!! Here are moroccan designer Ahmed Bel Hassani, egyptian designers Mohammed Daher, Isaac Mizrahi and Hany El Behairy, lebanese designers Amal Sarieddine, Elie Saab and Georges Chakra, and Walid Atallah from Dubai.
Please share others you may know and leave your comments!
Cheers,
Ana

Reem Acra, Zuhair Murad, and Basil Soda have all dressed celebrities for American awards shows.

They're Lebanese. Reem Acra was born in Lebanon, but she's based in the West now. I think Zuhair Murad and Basil Soda run their fashion houses out of Beirut and Paris.

This is a gorgeous editorial shoot from Marie Claire Turkey--not all of the designers are Turkish, but some are, and the styling, hair and makeup are. I adore it.

Several of the shots are references to famous Catholic religious paintings, or contain significant iconography.
