Sahar Skirt pattern
I want to say it was Monika or ZanaRaqs???? That took apart their Sahar skirt and layed it out on the floor.... they measured the total top waist measurement and the total bottem hem measurement. All you had to do was half it for the "fold". I can't find this thread! I've been searching the archives and it's driving me nuts! I don't think it was that long ago. Anybody remember? It was a light colored skirt.......

Re: Sahar Skirt pattern
This helps, but it was another pic. The measurements:waist, bottom, were posted. I wrote them down and 1/2 the measurements(fold) because the dancer was almost the exact measurements I am....
My husband decided to "clean" for the holidays......he doesn't. We(the kids and I) call him "The Re-locater". He just moves stuff around and doesn't remember were he put it!Ugh!Christina

Re: What IS a Sahar bra made from?
Okay, the skirt is one panel of fabric - the only split in it is for the back zipper. It measures 28" at the top, along the waist edge from end to end and the hem measures 92" at the bottom edge, from end to end. I am going to sew together the top portion that was originally attached with the buckle, still leaving a long slit and I have purchased a ton of Swarovski Golden Shadow crystals in varying sizes for embellishment. The actual color is darker than it looks in the photos and the sparkles on the fabric are also green - they looks sort of silver below.
It was a little tricky to get the skirt photographed, but here is what I've got!
Please keep in mind this is the basic model Sahar - I am not taking apart any of my pricier ones!!! I also added a picture of bra - the basic Sahar shape, not the halter or floating style.

THAT'S IT!!!!
My brain can finally rest....everything is right and good in the world now....at least mine anyway.
I have to keep things orderly in the house to function. When my husband "cleans", he doesn't tell how things are "arranged". It will drive me to a padded room someday!Christina

Re: Sahar Skirt pattern
Interesting video, but she's doing one of my pet peeves, using the word "waist" to refer to what should be "hip".
Somebody needs to tell this person that the waist is the narrowest part of the torso, ABOVE the navel, whereas the top edge of belly dance skirts and belts is normally the upper hip, below the navel.
I feel the urge to link to this bhuz thread: http://www.bhuz.com/showthread.php?2...uot-waist-quot

Re: Sahar Skirt pattern
You could try using epoxy or polyester resins designed for fiberglassing? You'd want to do it in a well-ventilated area or use a ventilator.
Something like this might be ideal as it's designed to create hollow plastic forms, so you could just keep swishing it around in the bra cup until it hardens.

Re: Sahar Skirt pattern
The video and Damiena's post are really helpful, but can any of the experienced costume-makers offer advice on how you could pattern this out without access to a Sahar? I understand the basic shape, but I'm not sure how to make a reasonable facsimile of it myself.
