Thread: best on line resources for belt forms?

looking for something super thick to stand up to chainmaille!

Oooooh, I have a chain mail (sp?) costume and made my own base.

If you don't have an existing belt to use as a pattern, maybe you have a dance friend that has one you could trace a pattern from (if it fits you).

I used a layer of heavy interfacing, one of denim, and one of my 'pretty' fabric and lined the back in a double thickness of cotton fabric. It's sturdy and still flexible.

I then stitched my chain mail (sp?) belt to the base and closed it with lacing through the end loops. To make a buckle I snapped off the pin portion of a brooch, made loops in the back with wire and threaded the lacing through that.

Sugar Petals used to sell undecorated buckram bras and belts, but they don't sell anything but bra cups any longer. Lucy still sells the sequined base sets ("BBB Basic Egyptian Bra & Belt" here http://scheherezadeimports.com/items...-Sets/list.htm). There are a couple of sources for patterns to make your own from scratch, and most large dance vendors carry those. In theory, you could modify Simplicity 2941, but with their directions, it wouldn't be sturdy enough for heavy embellishments.

Shahla makes bases for people. I'd see if she has time right now. Her work is lovely.
