Thread: Strass advice

I am wanting to use strass like these on a costume, but can't make up my mind on which kind. On the left is the ABCrystal, on the right is the normal Crystal... To obtain the most BLING, what would you suggest?

Difficult to say as it depends on the colour and beading of the costume. Do have a pic of the cossie? I think, it is much easier to give an advice, then.

I still have to make the costume, but base will probably be black... Don't plan on using beading, just pure strass bling ;) Perhaps a few big Swarovski-ish stones here & there, but not so much...

I personally would love to own a costume in AB AND chrystal! This is more interesting than just "only" one kind of bling-colour.
So - why don't you use both types of strass? That would look absolutely amazing on a black costume - especially with a few big sew-on stones from Swarovski...

I vote for AB stones too, it would make the costume more versatile.

Adiva (lol, not used to call you that ^^) , one of the 'designs' i have is just that - playing with different colors of strass :D i hadn't thought of crystal vs. AB, but actual colors (AB and purple, mainly). :D
like the idea of crystal vs. AB, could give a really nice effect! :)

personally, on an all-black costume I would use the clear ones for a bigger contrast...
BTW, you can use silver thread to sew on the chains, I've did it before and it looks great...., just saying

I love AB! Most stones & beads I buy are AB finished. The pinks & blues that come out in AB finish make the underlying bead color blend well with the other colors in the piece.

However, I recently spent some $$$ on a giant rhinestone collar necklace. I got it in non-AB, straight crystal, because I believe it will be more versatile that way and will go with all costume colors. My costumes are red and navy, so I didn't really want a pink overtone to the necklace.
