    Dress Mesh + Skin Color

    Simple question.
How important is it for your mesh to match your skin tone?
Parents got me an orange Johara dress for xmas (yay!) and it fits beautifully. It only needs a few minor adjustments/repaires to make it more reliable and the hem is in need of shortening, but the mesh is way darker than my skintone. I'm a natural redhead so I automaticly use the lightest flesh color of anything (aka, "witch brand of face powder has the whitest ivory?") and the mesh could easily work for cardboard.

I aim to match my skin colour approximately, or I'll try to match the colour of the costume instead :)

Well, I forgot to put in my post that the mesh is such a contrast to my skintone that it looks less like it's supposed to match me and more like a contrasting color on the dress. Make sense?

I guess it's fine as long as it doesn't look like it's trying to match :)

If you are not comfortable with the way the costume looks on you, then rules about what the mesh should or shouldn't match aren't the issue. If you feel it looks wrong on you, then investigate changing it. Right now, it sounds like you are in limbo--the mesh isn't close enough to match either you or the dress. What happens if you layer a second color of mesh or stretch fabric under the existing layer? Can you push the color to match the dress or make a more obvious contrast? It would be easier to tack another layer under than to replace the mesh itself (especially if it is decorated).
