Re: Farida Fahmy's designs
I just received the E-books. I find them a little dissapointed. :(
The drawings are perfect, but I was understood there were patterns in it or at least
a little drawing of the several pieces.
Now I still quessing what I have to uses for a pattern because Iám not that good seamstres.

Re: Farida Fahmy's designs
I was curious about these. Ten dollars per pattern in itself isn't unreasonable, but most digitized sewing patterns are a pain to work with. You either have to scale up from a smaller drawing or piece multiple sheets of paper together as they come off the printer so that you have pattern pieces you can actually place on fabric and cut out. Perhaps she'll revise the process after she gets some feedback from customers who have bought (or decided not to buy) what's there now...

Re: Farida Fahmy's designs
Yes - these are definitely costume designs, not costume patterns.
I don't think Madame Fahmy is interested in creating patterns - she is more interested in using the designs as different ideas for a common costuming theme and explaining more about each style. There's so much misinformation about Reda style costumes, this is her way to set the record straight, not to create patterns and perpetuate the same old styles over and over.
Her site doesn't mention that there will be patterns with each book.
I interviewed her in September about the costume designs, and hope to get that article out soon. (I'll post a link when I do.)

Re: Farida Fahmy's designs
From the little bit I know about Reda, I got the impression that there is a lot to how the dance and the costumes have a unifying aesthetic. Aegela from Toledo shared how Reda commented on skirt length, that the individual dancer's skirt length was not the crucial feature, but that everybody's hem had to be the same distance from the floor.
It makes a lot of sense that these documents focus on the target look, and that the actual construction is outsourced to an experienced seamstress.
