Thread: Belt Surgery

I bought a pretty hand made bedlah on bhuz & i guess i didn't read the measurements correctly but the belt doesn't fit around my hips ~sigh~ anyhoo the belt i two pieces & i'm pretty sure i can make it a little larger, but am wondering what would be the best material to add to the belt to extend it? i need to take pics & show everyone.

ok, i do these all the time...first, if the cossie has arm bands/wrist cuffs , you can set them into the sides of the belt
all of my belts are in two parts. i just extended one of my costumes i sold to one of my dancers...i used thick pellon untill it matched the belt in thickness , then extended fringe on them..only have to decorate the top, because the eye on on the bottom .

making beaded/sequined appliques might also work.... a great alternative if you don't have matching fabric. Is fringe a problem, too? If you can match the fringe, that's fine, or since the appliques would be focal points, you could contrast the fringe as well.
