Re: Favorite beauty products of all time

You´re a treasure to the community

    My all time favorites are:

Chacott translucent loose powder,a favorite for japanese ballerinas at first;now popular all over the world-it´s comes in 30gram jars but the 170(!)gram is well worth to share with friends as it only costs 25$.
    http://www.bobodave.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=974

Seche Vité Top Coat-fastest drying top coat that saved my time scedule in my nail tech days!Very shiny wet looking formula.

Milani eyeshadows;compareable to MAC´s for a 10th of the cost.
Also:their blush "Taupe"is the most natural looking sculpting powder I´ve ever tried(about 4$)

NYX lip liners, cheap&good say no more...

Benefit Thrrrob blush:looks great on many complexions, from my NC10-15 to my eritrean girl friend who´s an NC50...it´s gives a healthy, natural flush to the cheeks.
(Penny pincher version is Rimmel´s Pink Rose for about 3$)

Cure Natural Aqua Peeling:the most gentle peeling without grains.
Can be used on face, hands, elbows etc, removes flakey skin in 30 sec, leaves skin smooth and un-irritated,makes other products more efficient.
(Cheaper version is Meishoku´s DET Clear Bright&Peel Jelly)

Cleansing Oils:tried many brands like DHC,MAC and Shu Uemura.
This is the product I can´t be without!
It cuts through heavy waterproof stage makeup, mascara and sebum in seconds and rinses off with water.
My fav is Kose´s Deep Cleansing Oil.

Prescription product Latisse (generic version Lumigan or Careprost):has grown my lashes more than double their former length.
This is a pharmacy product that can have severe side effects,so:
Do careful research and follow instructions and mind the warnings before deciding to use.

Rose water as a toner - about $1.99 at the Mid-east grocery store - smells wonderful and I love it!
Vitamin E Gel - Huge pump bottle is about $4.00 at pharmacy. Mixes well (and moisturizes) with a little glitter when you are jazzing things up a touch.

Even though I'm inching toward age 60 I still have to be careful what I put on my face or I break out. I've used Merle Norman cleansers, moisturizers, and shadows most of my adult life and swear by them. If I try something else I immediately start breaking out. I also love my facial scrub brush. It makes my skin silky smooth

Baking soda as a facial scrub.
Sugar and salt scrubs I make myself for the rest of my body. I scent them myself.

Witch hazel as a toner and cleanser. I swipe this on in the mornings and don't have to fool with wetting a facial cloth and splashing water everywhere.

Primers to improve the look of my skin.
Birth control pills to lessen cystic acne.

Eyebrow pencil since I have a ton of dark hair on my head but somehow it missed my eyebrows. If I don't pencil them in my face looks odd and unbalanced. Maybelline's brow pencil is as good as any. But I don't like the red pencils you have to sharpen; I much prefer the green twist-up pencils.

I need to try that 'Ruby Woo' lipstick Princess Farhana mentioned!

    Yes,rose water is so cheap&good!
I mix it with moisturizing toner(without alcoholin it,but with butylene glycol, hyaluronic acid and glycerine)and spritz it whenever the indoor air is too dry:)

Sadly we don´t have vit.E-gel here..

NEVER buy body scrubs anymore-why pay hard earned money for salt/sugar+oil+emulsifier in a fancy can, when it´s so easy to make myself?

I use fine sugar or salt, almond oil& a spoonful of shower gel in it(important for making it a good, whipped consistency+easy to rinse off)

Love Body Shop´s Satsuma fragrance so I add an oil dupe from here(good seller):

Mine aren't even that complex. All you need is sugar/salt and oil and scent (and scent is actually optional), and I make soap and candles so I always have fragrance oils around. I make just what I need each time so I've always got a fresh batch, I use a different scent when I want to, and mine feel identical to the ones I was buying at Bath & Body Work$$$.

    I like natural products -
coconut oil - great for moisterizing body, and face, as well as hair. Excellent make up remover!
    - sugar and salt scrubs
    - coffee grind scrub
    - facial masks from the following ingredients (one at a time, not altogether): egg white, egg yolk, honey, oatmeal, yeast, avocado
    - sea salt for face
    - chamomile tea for hair

I'm curious: petroleum jelly and baking soda. How do you guys use it? What are the benefits?

    Non-natural stuff I like:
Mac, balanced out with a lot of cheap, drugstore make-up, haha, and Eye Candy.

Oh yes,I have seen women(and men)with fabulous complexion who swears by Retin-A!
*sqints*...and by looking at your picture I´m seeing it in my future

Right now I´m using Skinceuticals Retinol 1% around my eyes(started on 0,5%)and it has tightened up crepey lids very good.I tried to apply it all over my face,
but either it´s the formula or that I wasn´t patient enough;the redness, flaking&clogged pores didn´t stop so after 3 months I gave up and used it around eyes only. Was Retin-A side effects worse than this for you Anala?

3 months is a long time to be lizard woman! I cut mine half and half with a good greasy moisturizer. One that comes out of the tube like toothpaste - by Mary Kay. I also will give it a rest for a couple of days after two weeks. Mind you I have thick, oily skin. I use it on the back of my hands, elbows, neck and upper chest.

Thank you!! I tried the Dream Matte mousse foundation and was surprised how much I love the texture and coverage. Rose water & vitamin E oil are some of my staples too. :) Great information everyone!

I have converted to wearing Bella Donna mineral makeup (available online, some spas, and plastic surgeon offices)... It is AMAZING!!! Great staying power for being a mineral makeup and the coverage is better than Bare Escentuals. Even stays on with 2-3 shows a night (of course you have to rub it in with a brush longer during application for longer staying power and better coverage). No more harsh foundation for me!
