2 Q's = 3 panel circle skirt out of Joann's Jacquard? plus what color best for me
Has anyone made a 3 panel circle skirt out of this fabric from Joann's? If I order online for 7 yards will it be a continuos amount or do you think they will send it to me in pieces if they don't have 7 yards at a length?
I think this is what I liked in the store but they only had 2 yards of the goldish one. It felt like it had a bit more body than the silk essence but was thinner and less weighty then the crepe backed satin (fabric of LUST LOL)
I want to use it as an underskirt because it is opaque and heavier then the other skirts I have made. I have an ancient reflections set with out the mirrors, a deep green set with gold accents and another gold set i'm working on : ) I just downsized some fabric/costumes that didn't work for me color wise. I don't want to keep picking the WRONG colors for myself again so please help if you are able. Thank you Bhuz

I think this one is more "gold" and is called "Gold Cloud" it's in the lower left of the color chart
This one is more "bronze" and is called "Sandstorm" it's in the upper middle of the color chart
My hair is a bit lighter in natural light...i'm a dark blonde with a yellow skin base (not pink) (Warm Spring) and blue eyes.

If they don't send it as a continuous length, I suppose you could send it back.
I've worked with this fabric for both skirts and for a bride's maid dress, and I like it. It does have very good flow & drape. Heck, I've used it for shirts and hat decorations, now that I think about it!
I know those pictures don't give an accurate color reading- sandstorm or gold will depend more on the tone of what you are matching it to, I would think- either should work with your coloring, but can you bring one of your belts to the store to see how it looks with the costume? This is also a long-term stock fabric for Joann's, so it will likely be back in the store in a while, or you could ask your local store to order more for you, so you don't have to pay shipping.

If you order the fabric be certain you state you want a continuous run of fabric. Maybe they could order both so you could do an on-site comparison. I agree with the suggestion re having the fabric sent to the store, no shipping. The JoAnn's and Hancock's I have dealt with were helpful and willing to work with such requests. But if you liked the one they had in the store I would probably go with that one. Gut instincts are usually wise indicators for me. Online color swatches have often confused me since monitors dictate how the color appears.

If you can go into the store and place your order with one of the employees you can talk to them and have them specify that you need continuous yardage or you will not accept it. I have done several custom orders in store and had good luck.
One of my orders was for a huge amount of a white fabric that had to come in multiple bolts because of the amount (different fabrics have different standard bolt lengths). In ordering the employee specified that it had to all come from the same dye lot or I wouldn't accept it. They sent it back several times for me until they got it right.Shannon

You are right to be concerned about the continuous length problem. A local troupe ordered a lot of crepe-backed satin from Joann's and they got all sorts of bits and pieces, ranging from 1 1/2 yards to 3 yards. It was a real mess. If you must order on line and not in a store, I suggest you call, because they might be able to tell you on the phone whether they have big enough pieces for you.
I've made a skirt out of that fabric (though not a 3-panel) -- few years ago now. As I recall it was very flowy and drapy! I think it might make a very pretty 3-panel.Vashti Silks is my silk dye blog

Oh! I'm so glad I asked!! I can buy it from the store next time I go. I just don't get there that frequently because it's 1hr away. It's so smart to have them send it to the store to avoid shipping

I asked about the continuos yardage thing because the last 3 times i've tried to buy 7 yards of fabric or even a few of elastic it's been pieced together. That is SOOOO irritating!

I only buy from them when I must have something NAO. and its smallish.
I typically order my fabric online from fabric.com
fashion fabrics was okay- but mislabled my jacquard and sent me something that had the jacquard look- but it wrinkled EASILY and had a slighly one way stretch.... never ordering from them again.
I buy remeants at JoAnn's and from the bargin booth- I can't remember the last time I actually got full yardage there! LOL they are okay- but SO hit or miss!
I would never accept fabric that wasn't in one piece- thats asinene.
I love skirts with a little more volume and stiffness.. I have one thats something like mumblemumble 30+ at the hem- and its got two crepe'ish fabrics and one poplin and its- besides being to many panels- a LOT of fun to work with for skirt work! :D really catches air!
pictures when you are done!!!
