Beading: Restringing Advice
I've got a costume where several strands of beads need restringing, looks like they're on the verge of breaking.
So from experienced restringers, do you prefer upholstery thread or dental floss or something else?
Any other general tips?
Thanks!Last edited by mathkitty; 01-24-2011 at 12:18 PM.

Re: Beading: Restringing Advice
I prefer using heavy duty thread from Gütermann. It comes in various colors and I use it doubled up for beaded fringe. The fringe holds up very well, so far I never had to repair fringe made with this thread.

Re: Beading: Restringing Advice
I like twisted beading thread. I find the fibrous threads (like low-end beading thread and dental floss) more difficult to work with and more likely to "sprout hairs" as they fray. For sharp-ended beads like bugles or cut rectangles, I like Beadalon's DandyLine.

Re: Beading: Restringing Advice
I use carpet upholstery thread or button hole thread(it works for me) and I don't use beading needles I use a 12/0 quilting needle and a thimble(don't want to bloody the costume
) quilting needle goes through my heavily beauties easier when I'm doing minor repairs or alterations.
