    Tribal Gothic Fans - Thoughts?

Hi I'm looking to gauge interest in these very Gothic fans. A friend who has been making amazing halloween props for several years made these after photographing me with feather fans and seeing Benne Gezerrit (a fabulous Tribal dance duo and makers of Tribal clothing on etsy - look them up!) perform here in Tulsa, he began to think about making Tribal style fans. These fans are made from cloth and latex and are made to last. Each one is custom made. Please let us know your thoughts as to the desirability and pricing of these fans.

We'd really appreciate any feedback. The plan is to sell them in matched pairs, but they can be sold separately as well. The fans are made of latex that is coated with a sealant. So latex allergies are a concern if you are highly sensitive.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, dreams of something you'd like to see, improvements to what he already has done...etc. He's very talented, so just about anything is possible.

    Thanks!

    Hi!

I especially love the second ones. They look like a butterflie's wing.
One thing, I would prefer is if they had one spine (I don't know if this is the correct word for the wooden stick that holds the rest together) more. I personally would prefer my fans to be like a real half circle because of poses...

    Love, Sahira.

PS: Concerning the price... No idea - I think it depends on the amount of work and the cost for the material used.

It's an interesting idea, but not really my cup of tea; I like my gothic BD to lean away from the monster ethic in general. I also like fans to have a bit of movement, and those look very stiff.

That said, they look very high quality- I hope you find a niche for them. They're a pretty unique item, so you could price them how you like!

LOVE them!! Especially the first one! But I'm the sort that would hang them on the wall rather than actually dance with them.

They are openable and closeable? Or are they locked into open position?

Great work -- I have no idea on price, though.

That was my reaction too, but then I'm not tribal gothic, I'm Egyptian-style based gothic and would prefer more flowy things. Would there be any way to attach trailing fabric? Looking at them I'm also concerned about how heavy they might be.

It's a neat idea, though. And if you did the butterfly wings in brighter colors and added trailing bits, you might increase your market, if you felt so inclined.

The artist here... hi! On weight they are surprisingly light. Less than the Sally Rand style feathered AND with less drag. Trailing fabric can easily be done, however they would not be as a single piece but rather a trailing extension off from the individual "membranes". I will be doing such an example in the near future as you suggested.

They are somewhat stiff yet flexible, and VERY durable. They do not fold.

Artist here... they are flexible but not folding like a traditional fan... can't be done in this medium... I've tried.

Those are really awesome. I don't think they're right for me as a dancer...but they are wonderful to look at!

I think they look really well done and they are pretty creative! Too me though, they aren't gothic or tribally though...more so something that would go with a halloween show and that alone. But that's me personally! I still think they are very cool for stuff like that!
