    costumes slipping down

It seems lately that I cannot seem to keep a costume skirt or belt up anymore. If I tighten it too much I look like the Michelin Tire guy since muffin top would be an understatement. I recently bought 2 Legend costumes and because the waist of those are stiff (not elastic) they slip right down or if I tighten them I am afraid they will pop open. I am thinking maybe trying padded booty undies. Maybe that will help give the skirt/belt something to stop from sliding down? Any other thoughts? I want to wear my cossies without worrying about them falling down and I want them to look good.

It Stays. Water based body glue designed for support stocking. Works wonders for costumes and eyelashes! (I can't use latex based eyelash glue. It Stays was suggested to me for this. But then others started talking about how well it works with heavy Egyptian Lycra costumes. . .)

You can also try tacking in some small pieces of nonslip shelf liner -- the puffy rubbery stuff that you can usually find at the dollar store.

I do this, plus padding, plus elastic in a thread casing, because I always have that problem, too!

edited to add: I've heard that you can also sew in a non-stretchy tape along the inside of the top of the skirt. Make it the size you want - can't slip. I haven't tried this one.

I won't dance without my 'bike shorts' - low waisted, fit under the costume, smooths out any VPL, and I pin my skirts to it! I've never had a skirt move (up, down, or around me) whilst doing this.
I've also pinned my skirts to my body stocking (and shorts, in one go) - felt very secure.

I can't wear shorts under my Legends. They have hip cutouts. I wear undies of course, but can't do shorts. I had it pinned to my undies and it's a heavy skirt and it pulled them right along with it, so I kept pulling it up and when I shimmied I actually kept my hand in the back and held the skirt up.

Bummer!! (well, not literally.... I hope!)

If you want to put a little more effort into it, you could always sew a pair of bike shorts into the costume, attaching it either side of the cut-outs, and then cut away the bike short material where the cut-out is (did that make sense?) - much like the way many dancers attach a pair of undies to their costumes to work around cutouts.
