Thread: Where to buy hipscarves for small hips

I have a student who is looking for a hipscarf to fit a hip size of approximately 28-30" and I am looking for vendors to refer her to. She wants a fabric hipscarf with coins as opposed to a non-coin scarf or adjustable metal belt. All of the scarves she tries on have coins and beading that extend beyond where she would tie them which makes them fall apart faster since there is strain being placed on the beading. I already know about King of the Nile for custom sizes but I was wondering if there are any other vendors that make custom sized hipscarves or specialize in carrying hipscarves for small hips. Thanks!

Size small at http://www.thebellydanceshop.com would work for her. My hip is 31" and they are a good fit for me--excellent quality, too. They don't carry many smalls, but they usually have a few. (The small/medium size will be too big--get the one that is listed only as "small." If you see an extra small, that would fit her too, but I've only ever seen one of those on there.)

Miss Bellydance has small ones. I ordered this one last year and it has about 22" of coins and a solid 42" are the ties. I like it, it just doesn't cover as much of my 36" hips as I might like. (And most of the ones that I try on at my local store have coins too far into the ties, just as your student has found.)
