Pimp my Bra?
I've just finished the covering and hardware on this corset bra, but am stuck on ways to decorate it. Any suggestions? I don't want to go too blingy on it as it's come out as more of a fusion piece than a straight up cabaret bra, but I do like a bit of sparkle in my life, and the material is printed with gold glitter.

I have red and gold seed beads, black beads, more ribbon, lace trim, the ability to create beaded fringe... I'm pretty flexible, just out of ideas!

Really nice work! Pick out the stars with seed beads? Or perhaps pave the part under the lacings with a matt sequin?

That's such a fun bra! I agree, I think outlining and/or filling in some of the gold pattern in gold beads would add some great texture and enhance the fabric. I don't think fringe would be a good idea because I feel it would take away from the corset look.

So pretty! It looks great just as is. But how about considering a tribaret look, with some gold coins and some little red rhinestone brooches? Have you seen the costumes of Circus Tribal? They mix rhinestones and lots of stuff, very tastefully, to create their "tribaret" or tribal fusion look.

Not sure why those first two aren't hyper links, but they do work.Belly Dance to the Music of Americanistan

Re: Pimp my Bra?
Thank you for the input!
I really like the idea of highlighting some of the pattern in seed beads, so I'm definitely going to do that. I particularly like the fact that it's a lot quicker and simpler than doing all over patterning
I agree that fringe would be too distracting, especially as the ends of the ribbon trail down as well, but i think I might add some danglies right in the middle of the bra- the troupe Dunyah linked to (what an awesome bunch!) have done that on some of their costumes and it looks really effective.

This is very pretty. Is there a matching belt? I like the idea of adding some gold seed beads to enhance the design.

Well, I would not be able to resist, in addition to the seedbeads and the little coins, sewing on a few rhinestones.
But then I never met a rhinestone I didn't like.
PS. I suppose they could be SMALL rhinestones.Sophia

Gorgeous work! I'm echoing everyone else on the gold beading idea, but also suggesting some copper or bronze accents in the beading to flatter the deeper reds and make the beadwork both "pop" and blend into the pattern. Of course, it looks lovely as is too. Make sure you show us the finished project, I'm excited to see what you do with it!

Re: Pimp my Bra?
Thank you ladies :)
There will be a matching corset belt but it's currently in the cutting pile. I always do the bra first because that's usually where the design changes- this started off as black ruched chiffon with the red material just as a highlight on the top of the cup.
Elibelinde - I wondered how long it would be before someone suggested rhinestones! I've never actually used them, but i do have some hotfix swarovskis. Maybe i'lltry them out on a scrap of fabric and see what they add to it.
vanillacherry - I don't have any broze beads... sounds like an opportunity to go shopping!

Would nailhead studs or hotfix faux nailheads work? That would give you the sparkle of metal with more of a harder edge. What about something like metal spacer beads? If you sewed them flat, you could pick out the circular elements in the fabric design without getting too glitzy.

Re: Pimp my Bra?
I have one that looks almost identical to this- only its a burgendy fabric...
I left it as is- but I tend to be of a more simple mindset when decorating- I really lilked it just plain.
But you could totally do some decorative beading on the edges and survive :)

Re: Pimp my Bra?
I'm with Basha- I like it pretty much as is- tho I would probably add either a crystal drop pendant, or maybe even a cameo broach in the center.
