Need ideas for making upper arm cuff work

This may not be possible, but we'll see.

Just bought a couple of cuff bracelets very similar to this:

I mean to use them as upper arm bracelets (oh hai I have scrawny arms...probably would have trouble fitting cuffs actually meant for upper arms as all those I've seen seem to be huge compared to my arms) but they do have a gap, of course, which looks sort of silly especially since my arms do a muffin-top type thing through the gap, lol. Any ideas for what I may be able to do to make them work? i'm sure there's a way I can take care of the muffin-arm pretty easily, but the gap seems sort of strange if I raise my arms. I thought of buying another pair and just putting one on each side of my arm so they go all the way around, but they do overlap and that looks a little strange. Or do you think they'll have to be relegated to regular cuffs (which is fine too, but I think they look pretty rad on my upper arm)?

What about getting some sparkly organza ribbon and weaving it through the rungs on the gap side? You could make it slim or tie it with a big, pretty bow.

Metallic silver satin ribbon would work too.

That's just what I thought when I saw the picture - perfect for putting in some kind of lacing. But I also think the "gap" might look fine, too. Hard to say without seeing a photo.

I'll try to take a pic if I can. Probably after this weekend when I get my CF card reader back from my mom, lol. I think I can get them configured such as I won't get the "muffin top" arms--I think that is, in large part, just happening because of the curve of them. But the gap looks a bit weird when I raise my arms (if I was an Irish dancer and could just keep my arms by my sides, I'd be golden, but...) I was wondering if someone might not suggest some sort of lacing or elastic or something on the other side. Might be able to give it a goth-type vibe that way too. I'll ask my teacher for advice as well.

Pictures. Obviously it's not optimally bent--I think much of the muffin-top-age is just because the inside edges are bent in so they "squoosh" my arm. I just wasn't willing to modify it too much until I was sure I wasn't going to just use it as a regular bracelet instead of a cuff because I know if I bend it, I'll never get that original shape back.

I second the lacing idea, however if you want the open look, use clear bra-strap elastic (not too tight, of course) - you can always bend the edges out a little to get rid of the top edge muffin, if thats an issue :)

and if you're ever short of ideas - I've used indian/kuchi chokers from Ebay to make some great upper-arm cuffs in the past! They're just the right length.. :)

Thanks, everybody! OMG, clear bra straps. I never would've thought of that!
