    Length of bead-strands?

    Hi all!

As I have written in the "what are you working on..."-thread, I'm about to restore an old Legend.

It's one of those with bead-strands all over the skirt.
The former owner has removed all of them and I would like to put them back on.
Only question ist now: "How long are they?"

Maybe you can help me with this: Could one of you who owns one of those Legends, please!!! tell me how long those fringes on the skirt are. They are in pairs, which means it's always two strands together.

Here is a pic of a skirt which looks nearly exactly like mine:

Thank you very much in advance,
    Sahira.

I don't see any pearls? Do you mean beads?

Perlen in German are usually beads in English. There are lots of "false friends" in costuming. ;)

Oooops - of course, I meant "beads" instead of "pearls"! My English definitely needs some brush-up...

    Love, Sahira.

    PS: I've changed the text...

Got it. I can't help you though. I wonder if someone who has a similar costume would be willing to measure theirs and post here...

It looks like they are around 3 to 4 inches long.

Lesedi is right... they are about 3.5 inches long. But might I recommend, since you have the option of making the fringe any length you like, to make them 2.5 inches instead? You will get more movement! and I think it looks much more delicate instead of like long hairs...

I think this might not be a bad idea - the shorter fringes move well -

On belts I don't go longer than 4 inches but often layer those. Note I generally use #3 Czech bugle beads.

In front, longer is ok because it doesn't have to move the same way. For these I use #3 or #5, there are bugles bigger than that but they tend to break bigtime.

Bras, I use shorter yet except for center fringes - also I use accent fringes in smaller beads if necessary to pick up delicate moves.

If you use long fringes, smaller beads might work better. I have a Sim with fairly long fringe but they are small beads, some hex cut seed beads and some regular seed beads, I think size 10 or 11.

    Hi!

    Thank you very much!
The idea of shorter fringes is good and I decided, that I will make it like this: A little longer ones in the hip-area and then below that, I will go for 2,5 inches length.

I'l post pictures when everything is finished but I fear this will need a while as it is an awful lot of work...

    Love, Sahira.
