Thread: How to paint pharaonics beads?

Ihave a very pretty pharonics costume in gold with big beads. And they lost half their gold color. So now I want to paint them. I have been reding about painting beads online and it seems like u have to rough them upp and scrape the surface first to make the paint stick? Any ideas on how to paint them and what color to use. I know some recomend nail polish but will that really last long?

Instead of nail polish, I'd use the same acrylic paints that they use for model making (model cars, airplanes, etc). That stuff is more durable than nail polish, is meant to bond to plastics and metals and can be found in all sorts of colors and metalic hues. You can find the paints at hobby stores.

I've tried painting them before and was never satisfied with the results. Since then, I've always just replaced or re-strung it with new beads.
