Rainbow Henna product review
Hey ladies- wanted to give you my recent experiance with this product.
I have sandy blondish mousy brown hair but I'm huge fan of henna- I have been ordering henna/indigo from hennafromhair for almost a year now and I love it. I do the henna straight followed by the indigo- yes it is more time consuming but it I really like the resulting black. Much more natural than the a box die of any shade of black.
Like I said- been doing this for almost a year- so I have quet a bit of build up.
Well I've been a bit rough in the financial department and since a hard hat is part of my daily attire- roots showing isn't usually a big deal.
But alas I have an interview and my regular batch of indigo won't get here in time so I picked up some Rainbow Henna- shade of ebony black to cover my rather substantial roots.
Now- to the important part.
I was a little thrown off with the directions- boiling water- no wait time
Different from henna which typically requires several hours to release-and you use lemon juice and inigo can be used immediately and is mixed with water.)
Product smells HORRIBLE- similar to the earthy emelll of henna/indgo but not really but looked vaguly ike the indigo I use so I pressed on.
Its much more grainy and was far more chalky than the henna and definitly more than the indigo (which can be chalky and fall off in clumps- this stuff was 10 times worse than the regular procedure- which is indeed messy and labor intensive on its own- don't get me wrong.)
I waited about 2 hrs to let it set on my short length hair.
Washed as usual and I blow dried a bit (not normal for me) just to see the final result faster.
And... now I see- my roots have a distint green tint.
had my hair been longer or more of it someway- it might have been less of an issue- but as short as it is- the roots were definitly noticable- not glowing green- but that grayish green.
And the rest of my hair was chalky and not happy- which is obviously a big departure from the soft result of the henna.
So. Off I went to a professional to get it fixed for my interview- couldn't be helped unfortunately. It looks fine now- no issue with the black chemical match they did- but it will be back to the henna/indigo in 4 weeks.
I can't tell you about the other colors or variations- I didn't try them- but- now you know- the eboy Rainbow henna- FAIL.
I do NOT recommend this product at ALL. Stick with henna from hair products if you want to go ith henna or indigo.

Re: Rainbow Henna product review
Thanks for the 'heads up' (har, har...I slay me)....Light Mountain is easier to use and does give a pretty good result but you have to live with greenish roots for a couple days until the color oxidizes to black. What kind of henna do you use?
Well behaved women rarely make history.

Re: Rainbow Henna product review
I did a little product review after I bought it and before I used it and it had mixred reviews- but I was suprised I honestly had no idea that light mountain or rainbow exhisted- I only knew of henna for hair- and I'm very happy with their stuff!
I typically buy any one thats on sale that I can get about 5-600 grams of at a pop. I think I started with the yemen and moved to the stuff from pakistan.
I think I got such a marked color difference on this rather than what I normally use is that I go henna as one full step- and then I do indigo as a full second step.
this was supposed to be one step on its on (which I was skeptical of but again- emergency!!!) and I didn't have time to wait it out- I wouldn't have cared as it was close enough for day to day life under a hard hat or under a beanie and just suffered with it until my indigo came.
I'm pretty sure I'd be down right mad if I used this product for a "black" and that was the only product I used. Unsatisfactory.

Re: Rainbow Henna product review
It shouldn't be marketed or sold as henna if it's a "shade of ebony black". Since you're familiar with henna, you should know right away that there's something fishy going on since pure henna is red-brown shade, NOT black especially if you see blackish powder in there! Be careful...there might be PPD in that mix since it's not asking for acids for dye release.

Re: Rainbow Henna product review
that was my first suspicion- but they pretty much preblended the indigo and henna- and it looked a lot like actual indigo when I got my hands on it.
I think they threw cassia in some of the other ones.Ingredients: Lawsonia Inermis (Red Henna), Indigofereae (Black Henna)
But I checked for PPD- saw nothing- and it definitly didn't smell chemical in the least.
Shrug. there are some great reviews but my experiance- sucked. LOL
