How to attach coins/beading to hip scarfs
I wonder what kind of technique that is used for attaching the coins and beading work to a hip scarf?
Is it macramé of crochet? I would really like to know how they do these beautiful hipscarfs. I've search the internet without the result I'm looking for...

It's crochet. One of my friends does it. You just chain, add a coin or bead, and continue chaining. It takes a REALLY long time to do.

Re: How to attach coins/beading to hip scarfs
I have repaired similar styles of hip scarves. I use a regular beading style. I start the thread through the fabric, run the needle through the beads, loop through the coin, back through the beads and through the fabric. I tie-off each strand, in case a thread breaks only one strand is lost. I purchased a lovely hip scarf in Egypt that had unusual items attached to it, I spent time en route home on the plane to secure each strand. I wore that hip scarf for over 10 years. It was my all-time-fav.

I have no clue! lol Like I said, my friend does it. When she was showing me her work, that's how she described it. She was doing beads every other chain stitch. I would imagine that she has a bead needle at the end of one of the threads and slides beads down it when needed.

You have to thread the beads on before you start to crochet. Hence you will probably work in sections. When you want to add a bead just slide it into the crochet path and the "stitch" will lock the bead into place. You can experiment with the number of beads and the type of crochet stitches they are worked into.

if you use a small gauge crochet and big-holed beads, you can actually thread through the bead, no need to pre-string anything.

Re: How to attach coins/beading to hip scarfs
Now I get it :) Yes she must have put the beads and the coins on her thread before she starts. Witch means you have to plan the pattern carefully before you start if you wanna have more than one kind of bead/coin.
A simple thing but it takes some time like you said...
Well thanks!
