Adding lining to a costume - need advice
Hi, everyone! I just bought this gorgeous sequinned saidi dress from Dahlal. The red is just soo eye catching. But the dress itches!!! i think it's from all the threads to put the sequins in place. Has anybody added lining to a whole dress before? It is worth the cost, or should I just return the outfit?
Any ideas, suggestions, comments would be welcome!
THANKS

I would get a slip or light weight knit dress. Easy - peasy.

Re: Adding lining to a costume - need advice
depending on the dress details, it may be easier to just wear a body suit/leotard under the dress rather than line it. Lining things is a serious PITA. I've been sewing for 2/3 or my life and I still hate lining things.

Re: Adding lining to a costume - need advice
I second the slip/bodysuit/knit dress option. If you don't want the underdress to be less obvious making one with slightly shorter sleeves, bigger neck opening and shorter length in the same color as your dress might work too. Gah....I HATE itchy fabrics and have been known to cut tags out of garments because they seem to be made out of hair they're so itchy.
And hey, if you're ever going to pay penance and wear the proverbial hair shirt, you can forgo the under layer and look fabulous wearing your dress instead!
Well behaved women rarely make history.
