    Burlesque Pearl Costume

So I just saw the movie Burlesque the other night, and I am in love with the pearl costume! Check this beauty out.

Obviously the pearl undies wouldn't translate, but I definitely want to make something like this for a bellydance costume.

I've seen really pretty pearl bellydance costumes before, but something about how these just look like hanging strands makes it extra gorgeous to me. Usually the pearls are sewn directly on to the bra with that all over covered look, whereas this has a cool peek-a-boo aspect. I don't know, I just love it.

I like it too! I wish I had seen something like this when I started working on my pearl costume...It is great inspiration! Of course, I doubt there is another pearl costume in my future.

It has a Neckelmann's vibe, I wonder if they made it or could make one like it. Not recommending that, as their reputation for custom orders is not good.

The costume was really much prettier in the movie, in action on a (gorgeous) body. I fell in love with it, too.

Definitely! Although in the movie I couldn't see a lot of the construction details. I didn't realize that he side panels were solid, for instance. I thought the cups were held on by two strands of pearls on the side.

Lol... I said "whoa!" when I saw this.

It'd look really neat if you did a different color for the background fabric.

Wow! I just watched the movie for the first time too, haha!

I also didn't realize the straps in the costume. THIS is what I want to strive for in "nude" costume, too bad my skin changes color so easily

What I thought was hilarious were the costumes that had hand prints on their "Ladies" and their bums.

It minds me a bit of Sarah Skinner's awesome Salome outfit:

You might want to look to it for some inspiration. :)

(And boy, it's awesome to finally have something to say on a dance outfit post!)

Oh yes! Gives me a few other cossie-building ideas, too...but at least you can sew!!!

I planned on making my own pearl costume using the Burlesque as an inspiration.... soon, after the naked dress and the foggy red is done.
