How many beads and is this a good color match?

How many seed beads would I need for a heavily beaded cossie. I remember writing down that it takes about 8,000 sequins plus a little for a fully sequined bedlah set. I searched but can't find any posts about seed bead quantities. I want to lay them on heavily.

I'm looking at these to match the Turquoise Fringe I bought here (#7)

    These look close in color?

    Rocaille Seed Beads
    Size: 11/0 Rocaille
    Color: Blues- Aqua or Turquoise
    Finish: Silver Lined
    Material: Glass
    Manufacturer: Preciosa Ornela
    Made in: Czech Republic
Description: 11/0 Seed beads measure approximately 2.1 millimeters. Expect to receive about 4000 beads per hank.

    Shipwreck Beads - Search: Czech + Seed + Bead + S + l + Dark + Aqua + 11 + 0 +

Would I need maybe 4 hanks or so of beads? I'm horrid at gauging amounts of things I can't find any of this color at Cartwrights.

It's weird that cartwright doesn't have turquoise/aqua beads.

I just looked at my order from Carwrights for my pink and brown. I bought two 100 gm packages that contain ~8925 beads each. It was way more than I needed for my project and would probably be about right for a heavily beaded project since you don't have to make fringe.

So that would mean you need need to get at least 2 hanks to get 100 gm of beads.

BTW, I wonder how close sea blue is to your fringe....

Depends on the size of the sequins and the size of the beads. A good way to estimate is to take the beads and lay them over a 1 inch square in the same pattern you plan to use for the piece. Count the beads. Figure out how many square inches you have in the piece. Multiply. You can use any beads of the same size you already have to estimate this.

Colors are nearly impossible to match on the computer. I make bead kits, so I'm continually hitting this problem. Shipwreck does have a return policy. I've never had to return anything to them. Firemountainbeads.com probably has the same beads. I have returned stuff to them, and had absolutely no problem.

    Hope this helps

Thanks! I emailed Cartwrights and asked which beads match the 6mm cupped turquoise metallic sequins best.

Thank you for the estimating help and suggestions.

Just find a heavily beaded costume and weigh it. That's how many beads you 'll need!
In the past ,I've used up to 1 Kilo (2.2 Lbs.)for a costume, not counting the fringe!

Nowadays, I tend to use sequinned areas along with beading. The very fine detail with only seed beads, is not always effective from any distance more than about 10 feet.
Be careful buying in hanks. Some companies ideas of a 'hank' can be very different. Ask about the weight. In fact insist on knowing the weight!
You could be caught short, or have way more than you need!

Can't help with colour,( monitors can't really be accurate)but several shades of a colour are more interesting than just one. anyway.

Good luck, we want to see it when it's done!

"The 163b Dark Ocean Blue Green matches the Turquoise sequins. We have silver-lined gold beads. They are at the bottom on the beads page. Please see inventory number R22 for the silver-lined gold.

    YAY!

Update - These do not match the sequins. I'm going to try the " Czech Seed Bead S/l Dark Aqua 10/0 from Shipwreck to see if they are close. I'm so sad that the Cartwrights didn't work out and that I was told they were a "match". I'll post some photos so you can see the color difference. The sequins match the fringe perfectly.

I think I have ordered to many beads. I can always sell what is left on swap or use them for another project.
