Ready to get in the saddle
Alright, so...
I always held off buying fancy costumes because I figured that by the time I'd have an opportunity to wear my size/shape would have changed too much. Uh. Good thing I did :) Thus, I haven't paid that much attention to stores/designers/vendors of bedlahs.
So now that I actually need a proper bedlah, I find myself at loss. I did some google searches and I see a lot of stuff that, while technically qualifying for the term "bedlah", is not anything I would want to wear around the house, never mind on a stage.
So I turn to you dear Bhuzzers, hoping that you can point me towards a place where I can purchase my first "official" bedlah. I'm looking for a gold workhorse, with fringe. The bra might be problematic (apparently D cup and over is a special order on a lot of sites). I want it simple but sturdy. No coins or paillettes (or only a minimal amount of). No loops. A belt that has some shape to it, with fringe at the bottom, not on the entire surface of the belt.
Is there such an animal?
TIA!

This one is pretty. Not sure of your price level though.

You might like to do a custom order. Then you have exactly what you want and know the quality will be good because you selected the manufacturer.
For custom order of traditional Egyptian bra and belt sets, I usually turn to Turquoise International.

I've been buying from them for many years and have been happy with every single costume. Ask for Ali or Jen

Re: Ready to get in the saddle
not sure of your overall size, or design preferences. I had a bedlah here on bhuz which didn't sell, so now it's on ebay.
No problem if you don't like it, and good luck in "getting back in the saddle." I'm a horse nut so loved your thread title.

If your budget is $250, you should stalk the swap meet right here. You can get a whole lotta pow on a pro bedlah for $250 if its pre-loved

The other icicles at Bellydance Store (meaning other than the one gisela mentioned above). A friend of mine has an orange one and loves it. Here's one example:

You can search for the term "icicles" there and find them all.

Re: Ready to get in the saddle
One thing to note about the cup sizes--check to see how various vendors determine cup size. The BellyDance Store, for example, bases its cup size estimate relative to a 36" bra band, regardless of whatever the measurement of the actual bra band in question is. So something labeled a B or C might fit a 32 or 34 D. Conversely, something labeled a D might fit a 38 C or 40 B. You can always write the vendors and ask them to measure the insides of the bra cups, the way we do here on the Swap Meet.
