most common used length of veils for poi and fan veil

Two questions unless the length is the same...

what is the most common length/width veil used for

    1) poi

    2) fan veil

Would you rather buy them just as silks or already assembled?

    I like 45" x 3 yards for poi.
(I haven't tried streamers....but I like the look of more fabric)

I like around 4 feet for veil fans.
(pair I had was about 46" from tip of staves)

When I get another pair, I want them about the same length.

I guess it would depend on whether using one or two. I typically use one and I LOVE my big half circle from you for it. Granted, it's quite the workout whipping that puppy around but it sure looks awesome!
But, I've seen Poi done with 2 poi and the veils were much smaller.
    Personal preference I guess.

Yes, I found the heavier Voi balls, help me swing the fabric more.
As per Dana's instructions on Veil + Poi =Voi video.
    (Weighted tennis ball)

I love Michelle Joyce's veil poi too (D battery for a weight), but I need to use a thinner, lighter fabric.

I've heard of cheap zills being used as weights also.
    I haven't tried it.

I like the weighted tennis ball best; because I can use more volume of fabric.

    :-)
