Thread: Has anyone made their own ostrich feather fans?

Dang, feather fans are getting REALLY expensive!

I just ordered a kit to make one to give it a try.

I have had a set of the smaller ones for a few years that are ivory/pinkish color but I wanted to use the larger ones and pure white color and I was shocked at how expensive they are.

I have a friend that spent almost $500 making a pair of those fans. They were VERY FULL and gorgeous but WOW that was too rich for my blood

I know!!! I cannot believe the price of feathers! What's up with that?

I want a double layer set of white and it is going to cost at least that much.

Did your friend do OK with the assembly?

Oh, and my smaller set, I did not assemble them, I ordered them already made. So making them is new to me.

haha! Hi Sherrie! I saw this post and was going to rave about Claire's fans, too. Aura, they are huge, easily 3 feet by 2 feet. Not sure what kind of staves she used, but if you want us to ask her, I'm sure she'd be happy to send some info along.
