When do you wear your hair extentions?
All the time? Just when you perform? When you teach and perform? When you go to special gigs?
I think it depends on the level at which you want to trick people into thinking its your own hair. I've seen instructors wear them all the time, from teaching classes/ workshops/ performing etc. Or dancers that just put them in when they're performing or doing paying gigs.
Whats your theory on this?
I feel a little bit like that show Toddlers and Tiaras where they all know those girls don't really look like that but nobody cares and its all fake hair, fake tan, and fake teeth....

Re: When do you wear your hair extentions?
I just got a hair piece that works for me a couple of weeks ago. I tried a couple others that didn't work out before that.
This one is a pony tail type that goes overtop of my own pony tail so you see my natural hairline. It just looks like I tied my hair back into a big, loose pony tail.

I like it because it is the same colour and curl as my natural hair. I'm hoping it looks like I just styled my hair really well for my shows since I only wear it for performances.
The restaurant owners and staff know it's a piece and they think it looks awesome and freakishly like my own hair. The patrons are tourists and locals but I doubt they would notice or care that my hair suddenly got a lot longer overnight.
I must admit that putting on my hair makes me feel fantastic and helps me transition from my day job, everyday person to Hala Jamal, the illustrious bellydancer! I read Princess Farhana's article that was linked in a post on bhuz a little while back. Wearing my hair helps me "dress for the part" as she explained in her article. I think it adds to my professionalism since I am not naturally gifted with glamourous, lengthy hair.

Re: When do you wear your hair extentions?
I love extensions for performing. They're glamorous and a lot easier to deal with than my own hair. I recently cut my hair from mid back to a chin length bob that looks sassy and professional at work while still being easy to style. I left enough to pull up into a ponytail so I could anchor extensions for dancing. Before I discovered extra hair, I would spend an hour or more curling and styling my own only to have it wilt in the humidity here.

Re: When do you wear your hair extentions?
My natural hair is much shorter and appropriate for my professional day job. But it does not have the "oomph" that is needed when I am dancing. I wear a 3/4 fall when performing and when I had photos taken. But then again I also wear false eyelashes, makeup and jewellery to enhance my appearance when performing.
