Anyone know how to structure this skirt?

I have a 2nd hand white Bella. I have been dragging my feet on replacing the skirt--too dirty on the bottom and uneven and a little short. I'm not sure how to tackle planning the skirt pieces to cut out. i want a plan cause once the skirt comes off---i won't be able to use it. I'm not sure if the pieces are half circles or not.

Could you use the skirt pieces you take off as a pattern for the new skirt?

You've got the actual skirt to look at, and measure, before you even cut it off the beaded section. That would be your best plan!

If for some reason making a new skirt it too tricky maybe hemming the beaded portion (essentially making a 'belt' out of it) and wearing a separate circle skirt underneath might be an option. You'd have more wearability out of the set while you figured out how to make and attach the new skirt (or not).

I bet an L Rose mermaid skirt would look really pretty under it in addition to the circle skirt (but not worn at the same time, tee hee....). Matching gauntlets would transform the whole look. What is the base fabric of your costume? Maybe they have something that matches?

I took the skirt off a similar style Pharaonics to shorten it and it was 3 half circle panels...but they're sewn on an angle. Best bet would be to buy yardage for at least a circle and a half (3) panel skirt and then use the existing skirt for a pattern. Good luck!

I've got a page on how to make Trumpet Skirts, and so does the Costume Goddess. I call this style the tube and circle method. There's a link to her page on the bottom of mine, and she goes into more depth on that style. They may help you.

If it's too short and dirty on the hem, why not cut the hem off and sew a white circle skirt underneath to make a two layer skirt of varied lengths?

thanks everyone----the reason it's not easy to see the shape is that the skirt was uneven and the previous owner and i did tucks under the belt part to pull up some of the uneven bits. It probably is half circle pieces from what i can see. I'll bite the bullet and take the skirt off cause the rest of the costume is still great---it needs to be worn. i even have a white circle skirt which might go under it when just the belt is left.

I've made a couple of skirts in that fine chiffon. To get the same look. I think you probably need at least 4 half circles. To wear a separate skirt is the best idea, though!
