Thread: Where to buy metal mesh (glomesh)?

Does anyone know where to buy metal mesh, a.k.a. glomesh?



It's available from Chinese wholesalers, but I'm having trouble finding somewhere I can buy it retail. Online stores or sources in the NYC garment district would be particularly useful.

What are you planning on using it for? Anaheed has a bedlah she used glomesh on and she basically bought a couple of the mesh halter tops and then cut them into appropriate pieces. Actual glomesh can be very expensive. I have a couple of pieces from Whiting and Davis who originated the technique in the early 1900's. I have seen the tops in some of the stripper stores on Hollywood blvd. - Chinese made - for between $25 - 50. I am sure that they will have them in the same type of stores in NYC as well.

Tahira, that's also a great suggestion of buying a couple of tops. I am intending to cut the fabric up into little pieces to decorate a bra and skirt. I'm feeling inspired by Ozma's Eman Resurrection. I'll see how the prices work out for ordering raw fabric versus ordering tops.

I am quite sure I saw some in the garment district Saturday, but for the life of me, do not remember the details - it was not one of the big names, it probably was one of the many trim stores on 39th.
