Thread: Sewing cotton/lycra galebeya--how to prevent serged edges of sides from curling under?

I have serged the side opening edges of my new cotton/lycra galegeya/beledi dress; however the edges are curling under. Any suggestions from experienced seamstresses on how to prevent this? I haven't decided yet on whether or not I will embellish the edges. That will depend on being able to keep them uncurled. If I turn under and straight stitch the edges, do you know if that will work?

Turn under and stitch the edges, but get some hem/bias tape or stiff ribbon to sew into the hem. It is meant to keep the edges stiff and crisp.

Thanks. I ended up turning the edge under and regular stitching it. Then added on a string of sequins with a wide zig-zag stitch.
