How to measure for a dress
So, I'm curious, I'm pretty good at knowing which costumes will fit me, and which I may have to tweak to fit.
I'm a little lost with dresses. I ordered an Lrose beledi dress and they asked me to measure (can't remember if it was from shoulder or armpit) and they tried to talk me out of the measurement I had taken. I'm short, but with freakishly long legs.
So, to successfully order a dress, what and how do you measure? Do you measure the bra the same? etc...- A deeply desired goal gives context to present experience... M. Stanton Jones

Re: How to measure for a dress
are you interested in knowing how to measure an L. Rose dress only? or any bellydance dress? I've ordered quite a few in different fabrics from L. Rose.

Re: How to measure for a dress
measuring for dresses is hard, but it can be done. I have a long torso and the booty beading for most dresses sits too high on my body.
Here are some measurements I would use to see if a dress fit me:
bra cups pressed in - top to bottom, side to side, diagonal
from one outer bra cup to the edge of the other bra cup
strap length
bra band
bottom of bra band to start of upper hip beading
bottom of bra band to lower hip beading
natural waist
upper hip
lower hip
upper hip beading to hem
arm accessories if any - length and diameter
most dresses are measured laying down, and when they are hanging on a hanger, the dress stretches
If the dress measurements are close to maximum on a body, the length will be taken up (become shorter) as the dress stretches around the body.
Other ladies may have additional ways of seeing if a dress would fit, good luck!
