    Tips for gold eye makeupl

I KNOW there are people who pull this off. I am SO not one of them.

Whenever I wear gold eye makeup, I just look jaundiced from a distance of more than a foot or two (up really close it looks awesome, though!).

I'm not even worried about the stage, just everyday life. I'd love to be able to do it--I've got the golden undertones to my skin and hair and eyes and it'd look really cool...except it doesn't.

There must be a trick. Uber-glittery (as opposed to merely shimmery) eyeshadow so it's obvious I'm wearing gold makeup rather than just having creepy yellow skin around my eyes? Building up so much makeup so it's really obvious?

(I can't pull off my gold lipstick either...combined with the pink of my lips, it just looks orange from a distance. Um...)

I tend to blend the gold with something else higher up on my eye. Right now I like to go from gold to pink to beige.

It may be the wrong shade of gold for you (every color has hues with different undertones). I assume you're trying a "pure" gold? You might need to look for one that's got a bit of bronze to it, say, or even one with pinkish-coppery undertones, or even a paler, silverish gold (I'm very olivey also, and I know that some shades of it work on me and some just don't).

Hmmmmmm, if you've got golden undertones I wonder if this orangey / black look would work for you:

I love the sunset colors in this and am plotting to try it with a red/gold/rust costume I have.

FYI, if you happen to have it, most of those colors are in the Coastal Scents 'Fall Festival' palette. The only one I couldn't find a close match for is the yellow shade she used in the inner corners. I tried the look out today.

Ah! Smoky gold I could probably pull off.

I can do bronze/copper okay, I think, as long as it's shimmery/sparkly... matte rust also makes me look ill, like I've got conjunctivitis or something.

I had the same problem. I've found that darker golds or coppers look better and I need to blend them with another color up top. I typically use a rose or pink color which makes the gold blend to my skin and look natural and not all jaundicy or diseased.

I have pink undertones in my skin so this works for me. If you have more olive undertones, blend with an olive or green and so on.
