Thread: Fun shopping places in Seattle, WA?

Hey everybody!

I've been away for awhile while life got crazy, but I'd like to get back into belly dance, and costuming for belly dance! I'm currently working in Alaska as a fisheries observer in the Bering Sea, so I can't really commit to classes, but I'll be in Seattle for at least a week, maybe 2 at the beginning of July, and was hoping to maybe catch a beginners class and do some shopping!

I'll be base in the University District, but willing to go anywhere! If anybody knows of neat costume shops, fabric stores, etc. I'd really appreciate it!

What sort of things are you looking for, there's a bunch of Seattle folks here who can help, they've hooked me up when I've visited.

The first time I was in Seattle and shopping for costumes, I had some good luck at Pyramid Imports right downtown. Found a really great workhorse bedlah at a reasonable price. However the last time I was there (May 2010) I enthusiastically returned only to have the shop owner (the same one I had purchased from the year before) tell me that I was not allowed to touch any of the costumes or pick them up to try on. I was to tell her what my size was and she would pick things out for me.

Perhaps I caught her on a bad day? You could still give them a try, she had some ok stuff...

?????? Weird. I wouldn't trust anyone to fit a person, without trying it on.
