    What are these?

DH brought these back with him from Cairo. There are 2 per set, and he got me a silver set and a gold set. I thought they might be slave bracelets, but they do not have that V-shape or the finger hook. The circumference of the band is about 7 1/2 inches, too small for an upper arm band, too big for a bracelet. They sit about halfway up my forearm and don't stay there during dancing, they end up sliding down to my wrist.

I admit to being baffled. Please help?

    Wow, you're fast!

No, tried them around my ankles too. The band is very rigid and you'd have some serious blisters after a show.

I had a bracelet like that from Cairo too. It was too big for my wrists and too small for my upper arms. I ended up trading it with a woman who had bigger wrists!

    Hi!

They are meant for the upper arms.
Those arm-thingies are very cheap to produce (and to buy) and thus, they don't care too much about if they fit or are comfortable or not.

    Thanks ladies.

Do you think I can stitch an elastic band to the circle, to make it fit my upper arm? If I use a nude color and put the "clasp" area on the inside/bottom of the arm, it shouldn't show too badly, right?

That's exactly what I did with mine...

Did you just sew elastic into the gap, or make it a complete circle? I can't see from the photo.

Lovely costume, btw, and the earrings are yummy!

Maybe you could somehow attach the 2 together and just use one armband. Balanced out with a bracelet on the other arm.

Yes, just covered the gap - as far as I remember I didn't need to sew as the ends of my bracelets had loops on so I just threaded the elastic through and tied it together...

Thanks for the compliment - I bought the bedlah here on Bhuz, made the skirts and headband and the earrings I got from a charity shop years ago...
