Hopefully it won't fall apart with the first shimmy but I thought it might be helpful to start a thread with links to your favorite costumers or vendors who offer decent 'workhorse' costumes and/or costumes for the budget conscious dancer (aside from making them yourselves)

I am not sure if Neckelmanns is still in business but I always loved their costumes and they were always crowd pleasers

The costume I just recently posted from Bellydance shop is really pretty and affordable

How about sources for basic bras that you can embellish yourself, or affordable chiffon circle skirts ?

I buy most of my chiffon skirts on ebay. from TheMileStock. (TMS)

I love them, because there are no slits, so I don't have to sew them closed :D

And they are CHEAP! :D 20 usd inlc shipping to Norway, and that is with a veil to! :D

I have 5 high end costumes, but I actually end up wearing my "butterfly" bras from ebay, 2 ebay skirts layered, and a coin scarf! It looks so much better on me, although it costs a fraction of the price of my other costumes! and they are COMFORTABLE! :D

I'll see if I can find a pic. I know I have a pic of one of my students in "ebay bits" :D

I buy a lot from eBay, especially basic skirts. I also frequent moondancebellydance.com and L Rose Designs...

But my preference is always to buy pre-owned. It gives me a good feeling to wear something someone else once loved.

You just have to watch and wait. There are some terrific bargains available here, as well as stunning advice and information. It does help to know "official vendor" prices though, as sometimes Bhuzzers are a little pricey.
