    Paillette-d fabrics?

    Hi all,

I have a 1980s beledi dress that is pretty much all paillettes - I look a bit like a big glittery red fish in it. :) I can tell the paillettes were sewn by hand. Sadly, the dress is showing some wear. I would love to make another in the same style, and was wondering if anyone had a line on where to find fabric that is already densely covered in paillettes.

I've seen a lot of paillettes over the last two seasons of haute couture, and am hoping this trend might be reaching the fabric stores. I've done quite a lot of Internet searching, but mostly am finding either paillette trim or sequinned fabric, as paillette can be translated as "sequin" in French.

    Anyone have any leads?

    Thanks,
    Christine

I've seen some overall pailletted fabrics at a store local to Dallas called the Golden D'OR . . at about $45 a yd. maybe you can contact them regarding samples http://www.goldendoroutlet.com/

Last time I was there I actually took a photo and put on FB:

Maybe you don't want to see what they have . . . . I have a hard time getting out there without hocking my car and my cats!!! :-) . . . there are plenty of sequinned fabrics in that store but the large pailletted ones really surprised me . . . I had one of those big silver paillette ones and used to call it my dancing disco ball dress :-)

Saw lots of fabric with small paillettes all over it during a fabric trip to NYC 10 days ago. Check Spandex World and Spandex House.

It's lethal to check out those places too . . . but at least you can see their stuff on-line.
