Thread: how to attach these feathers?

How do you attach these feather fringe pieces to the dress? do pre-strung ones exist, or do you have to be go through the fabric and bead and attach yourself?

in the picture above and from seeing it live, it looks liked it was little chains with feathers attached at the ends..

I've been wanting to make a funky animal print costume with feathers..

I would guess they are individually strung, just like they would be if the dress had bead strings with paillettes. I suspect they are end-wrapped with thread, not wired or some other type of finding, but whether the feathers were added after the strings or as a single step (like paillettes would be), I don't know.

You might be able to adapt some of the information here A Flight of Fancy: How to Be-feather Accessories - Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, or if you really want to go crazy, look up about fisherman's fly tying, since they've made attaching feathers to things into an elaborate art.

Hi! Maybe, you are lucky if you search for ballroom gowns used for standard dance. They often use those feathers for dresses that are made for tournament-dancing.
