What would you call this dress?

    Yasmina Baladi

It's on the cover of Yasmina of Cairo's "Baladi w Bas" CD.

It looks like blue netting (not assuit) with a bra and bicycle shorts underneath, with the superlarge paillettes as trim.

What would you call it if you wanted to find one? Or do you know the designer? I almost want one (although I might like a skirt or pants under instead of the bike shorts.)

It's a very posh gelabeya and I have seen similar made of a fine mesh. Yasmina is on Facebook and I'm sure she'll tell you about who created the dress. She writes for our magazine and we've published a full size version of that photo .It is truly beautiful.

If you click on the photo, it will bring up a detail. At the bottom is says, costume by Aziz and gives a phone number.

    Have fun!

In all seriousness though, I'd probably just describe it as a beledi dress with a superlow V neck and long, draping sleeves. But then, I am not up on the fashion lingo, maybe there's a specific name for it.

    I'd call it pretty awesome!!!

but the fabric reminds me of the netting used for sacks, not in a bad way, just a descriptive one. You know, the kind that are used for laundry sacks?

    Maybe it's crocheted?

I've seen similar fabric called cabaret mesh. I think your best bet is to share the photo with whomever you have make you the dress, preferably the same designer, if possible.

Cabaret netting: Spandex World Inc. spandex fabric, lycra stretch fabric

but I also ordered a fabric from the same company that had wider mesh holes (this is still relatively fine)- can't find it now but give me a minute- both are really, really soft & drapy- fun stuff!

Re: What would you call this dress?

    Thanks everybody!!

I had no idea you could actually click on that link and get the designer's name!! I was just looking for a place that had a large image of that CD! LOL -- guess I should have done more research before posting.

I think this is a super chic look, and I am considering it for trying to "deflate" to my pre-pregnancy weight and dimensions (assuming I have any jobs then!) I'm not sure I know of anybody who could make something similar for me, but I'll check around. Thanks for the names!!! :)
